Director: Noah Baumbach
Writers: Noah Baumbach & Greta Gerwig
Wonderful!
Baumbach has a history of having a pretty harsh sense of humor, his characters are usually fairly miserable and frustrated and provide lots of cutting dialogue, but this feels like a new turn in his career. Yeah the lost in the world 20 something story is fairly common in today’s pop culture but this just has so much optimism and warm, honest humor that I just walked out smiling. The characters are flawed but in an endearing and honest way. A great antidote to the current wave of big budget movies which all seem to end with the destruction of an entire major city. Anyone getting tired of this? Is it supposed to be fun? I know they don’t specifically show it but you know thousands and thousands of people are being killed on screen. Anyway I digress. This movie is good.
