Director: Steven Soderbergh
Writer: Scott Z. Burns
Very entertaining thriller. I am sure this is what everyone said but it is very reminiscent of the best 80s De Palma stuff. The directing style is all modern Soderbergh, everything is yellow and glows, but the tone is all prime psycho-sexual De Palma. It certainly kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Jude Law is actually the star of this movie contrary to what the marketing has to say and he is a damn fine one. Everyone is this movie is totally game, they are mostly Soderbergh’s routine players, and really play into the material. I just love Soderbergh’s economic style. There aren’t tons of cuts, things are laid out cleanly, and the story is always moving forward. I know he says this is his last theatrical film but I hope that is a promise he breaks.
