Going into this I really had not much hope for it but once it came out and actually got good reviews I got interested. I never made it to the theatre, mostly because it was only playing in 3D, a format I find largely useless and distracting, but caught it recently. It certainly is better than I thought it would have been but mostly has a been there done that kind of feel. The action scenes are mostly dull apart from some really neat slow motion photography. After watching Django in all its bloody squib glory I realized just now much I hate this CG blood craze that is so prevalent in these action movies. All of the violence in Dredd is computer generated, and very obviously so. It just doesn’t do it for me, and I don’t really understand why filmmakers think it is better than just have a good old fashion blood pack. Overall better than it should be, but still OK. Also get a sense of humor! Judge Dredd is supposed to be satire!
