Director: Richard Brooks
Writer: Richard Brooks
(Based on the book by Truman Capote)
Recently read the book for the first time and thought it was amazing. This adaptation is decent enough but I don’t think it quite captures the nuances and subtlety of the book. The movie is fine in its own right, the performances are OK, the black and white photography is nice to look at, but it just feels very straight forward and standard compared to the book. Also not quite sure about that Quincy Jones score. I am sure it was really cool at the time but watching it now gave it this weird tone/feeling. Think I will watch Capote again soon.
