For some reason I just haven’t seen this movie before. I felt like I have because it has been referenced so much in the last 35 years and the American in a horrible foreign jail is a familiar story by now. But even knowing a lot of the beats it is still a gut wrenching film. The production design is appropriately disgusting and the acting is solid all around. I also really enjoyed the lack of subtitles for the Turkish people so to further drive home the feeling of isolation. Good movie! Very tough. On Netflix Instant right now!
