Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

Director: Timur Bekmambetov

Writer: Seth Grahame-Smith (Based on his own novel)

So I liked this.  The joke of the movie is that it is serious.  There aren’t quips or one liners or really many winks to the camera.  The action is crazy and cartoony and over the top and you either just go with it or you don’t.  You know what the movie is about from the title so walking in you’ve already have to have accepted what you are going to see.  The movie feels very choppy though, it plays out like a full length montage instead of a regular movie which gives it a very strange pace.  But the action is over the top and seeing Lincoln, with full beard and stove top hat, killing vampires on a runaway train during the final act was enough to put a smile on my face.  No real twists or surprises or anything just dumb B-movie fun. By no means high art but about as good a movie from this idea could be I would imagine.
