Purple Rain (1984)

Director: Albert Magnoli

Writers: William Blinn & Albert Magnoli

Torque? Both Ghost Riders? Purple Rain?  Really into motorcycles right now I guess.

Anyway so this is the movie with Prince in it.  He plays The Kid.  A local music act trying to make it in the club scene.  He meets an aspiring singer name Apollonia.  His rivals are Morris Day and the Time.  He realizes that his music needs to connect with people on a more human level and he can’t just rely on talent alone.  He also has an abusive father to deal with.

This is pretty much a music video for the album Purple Rain with some scenes in between.  The acting is pretty poor and the story is thread bare.  The music is still good, I must admit I got into Prince very late, but its mostly a time capsule for the music and the time than a really good movie.  At least that was my take on it.
