The Tree of Life (2011)

The Tree of Life

Director: Terrence Malick

Writer: Terrence Malick

Gorgeous is the first word that comes to mind with this movie.  Just the beautiful images and music alone make this movie a must see.  Malick’s style can turn people off, there were quite a few walk outs during the showing I was at, but if you know what you are getting into and just let it wash over you it is a worthwhile experience.  Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain give great performances.  There is a story there but the movie is not traditionally structured.  The camera is always floating around and moving.  There is a lot of whisper talking.  It starts with the creation of the universe and ends with the destruction of it.  There are dinosaurs in it.  I guess this is just the kind of movie you either go with or it just isn’t for you.  I loved it.
