Director: Bobcat Goldthwait
Writer: Bobcat Goldthwait
Comedies don’t get much blacker than this and I love it for that. I hesitate to get to into detail about the story, I feel it just must be seen to be believed and going to deep into the story kind of ruins the surprises. I generally think Robin Williams is pretty annoying when he is in his over the top roles but this film demonstrates the Williams I can love. The one who goes for the dark and more subdued and grounded roles.
Williams plays a struggling writer/English teacher. He is also a single Dad with a complete brat/prick for a son. That is really all I want to say. About 40 minutes in the movie gets pretty shocking and crazy. Not for the faint of heart. One of the more shocking dark comedies I have seen in years. The lengths to which this movie goes is pretty amazing and I for one am very excited to see what writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait does next. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion.
