Director: Clint Eastwood
Writer: Peter Morgan
I think Clint Eastwood is vastly overrated as a director. Looking at his filmography I’ll say the last great movie he made was Unforgiven in 92. I skipped this one in theatres but just watched it and I’ll go so far as to say I thought it was alright. I felt the opening tsunami disaster sequence was a little unnecessary. The movie isn’t very “exciting” in terms of adventure or action and that opening felt like they threw it in there just to have to movie start with something big. The little boy who stars in it was pretty terrible. Remember back when all kid actors were awful? I think in recent years we have been spoiled by the Chloe Moretzs, the Kodi Smit-McPhees and the Abigail Breslins and forgot that kids are shitty. Matt Damon’s character is the most interesting part of the movie but he is one of three leads in the film so he isn’t in it nearly enough. I could’ve gone for a movie where the movie was just about his character.
I thought the movie is mildly interesting with a weak last act and ending. Something I think I can safely say I will never watch again.
