I really don’t know where to begin with a documentary like this. It isn’t a topic I know much about on my own so I can’t really say anything about it is wrong or right. It is definitely emotional seeing little kids entire lives pretty much decided by a bingo game. Moments of it feel a little staged, especially the last 5-7 minutes or so. Based on what I see here the system definitely seems broken but like any issue highlighted in a documentary you can’t boil something down like this into an hour 45 minutes. Tenure does seem crazy to me and I never understood why it was something that applied to teachers. It is definitely well made, interesting to watch, and makes you think, and I suppose that is what a good documentary should do.
